The Interbellum Bucharest Ball is a cultural event organized by Calea Victoriei Foundation, realized under the auspices of The National Bank of Romania and The Ministry of Culture and hosted by the National Military Circle in the Byzantium, Norwegian and Gothic Halls.
The Interbellum Bucharest Ball is organized on the structure of an artistic event with the participation of the following artists:
- the famous "Doina" quintet
- the violin player - Alexandru Tomescu - playing on a Stradivarius violin
- famous cultural personalities involved in the cultural development of Bucharest: Mr Neagu Djuvara, Mrs Georgeta Filitti, Mr Tiberiu Soare, Mrs Adina Nanu, Mr Adrian Majuru etc.
The artistic event is formed of:
- live music from the interbellum period (Romanian and International): foxtrot,Charleston, tango, valse etc., as well as music from the famous 20's.
- dance: the atmosphere will be kept by choreographers, dancers and actors that will teach and invite people to dance
- during the six hours in the Gothic Hall there will be projections with the images (photos,paintings) of the old Bucharest which are meant to be an awareness about the beauty and the patrimony of the capital.
It is important to underline the fact that the music and the costumes of all participants will be inspired by the intrebellum period ( the 1920's to the 1940's ) in order to create a an atmosphere very similar to the most glorious period of the old Bucharest.
The food will also follow the trends of the 1920's with specific gastronomic surprises.
The message of the Ball: to be a signal of alarm towards the danger of losing essential elements from the cultural patrimony of the city. The message will be sent through the Ball by short interventions of the present historians following a cultural-educational direction. The artifice of sending out the message to a more aware crowd formed of media and the people living in Bucharest: time traveling in the most prestigious time ever known by Bucharest - the 1920's-1940's.
